Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Hlinsko Zone, old abandoned quarry on local elevation. Outcrop of silicites which form lenses in the blackish and greyish siliceous schists of the Hlinsko Zone. They can be also called lydites due to their blackish colour and silica amount. Stratigraphically they belong to the Early Palaeozoic. They are tectonically deformed. On some bedding planes relics of graptolites can be found.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Bohemicum (Central Bohemian region) - Polička crystalline complex
